Education Ministry to Shut Five Colleges of Sylhet Board

5 Sylhet Board colleges to shut

Five colleges in Sylhet Education Board are being terminated due to not getting any student for the eleventh grade admission 2015-16.

No students showed interest about those 5 (five) colleges though the merit list was published for four times. The Ministry of Education as well as these institutions without students is facing difficulties.

According to the sources of Sylhet Education Board, at least 25 students per section are needed in order to keep the college approval. So these colleges are in the existence crisis due to not getting any student, because there are insufficient students in their twelfth grade. Some colleges are not having a single student in the twelfth grade.

The decision of education ministry is in favor to cancel the approval of these colleges without students. The education ministry will decide whether to revoke the approval soon after visiting these colleges.

These colleges are not getting any students till now.

College Inspector of Sylhet Education Board Mostafa Kamal Ahmed said, the colleges which are not getting students for eleventh grade have been asked to give a reason from the Ministry of Education.
