First Convocation of Shanto-Mariam University Held at BCCC

1st convocation of SMUCT held

President Abdul Hamid on April 23, 2014 called on the private universities to increase facilities for poor students so that they can study there at an affordable cost.

The president spoke at the first convocation of Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology (SMUCT) held at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC).

"As study at private universities is expensive, poor students have to be provided with scholarships and other facilities", he said.

A total of 1,378 students were awarded degrees at the convocation and six students received Chancellor's Gold Medals.

Account BenefitFormer Indian Chief Justice Altamas Kabir was present as the convocation speaker. "Bangladesh can achieve sustainable development through properly utilizing its natural resources. Sustainable development means controlled use of natural resources for the sake of the future generation", he said.

He also said that there is a bright prospect for Information Technology and the steel industry in Bangladesh.
