Chittagong Collegiate School Tops
The SSC results of Chittagong Education Board were published on May 9, 2013 with pass percentage of 88.04%.
Out of 20 best schools, Chittagong Collegiate School super-ceded the defendant Fouzderhat Cadet College. You may know, Chittagong Collegiate School is the school of Nobel peace prize winner Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
Fouzderhat cadet school and college stood first in last two academic examinations but this year Collegiate School super-ceded the title of Fouzderhat School.
Chittagong Collegiate School and College was established as Chittagong Government School in 1836. The school was the first English medium high school in Chittagong. Its classes were held in a brick building constructed during the early years of British rule. The school was then shifted to a new location at the southern section of the Markot Sahib Hills. In 1886, the school was relocated to its present location at Ice Factory Road, North Nalapara, near the Chittagong Railway Station, and was named as Chittagong Collegiate School. Until the first decade of the twentieth century, the school was popularly known as the Entrance School.
In 2008 the Government renamed the school "Chittagong Collegiate School & College"
A total of 419 students appeared in SSC exams this year of which 418 came out successful with 389 GPA-5 holders. Dr. Khastigir Girls' School and Fouzderhat Cadet School secured second and third position.
Bangladesh Mohila Samity Girls' School, Isphani Public School secured fourth and fifth position. The remaining top 15 schools out of best 20 schools under Chittagong Board are as follows:- 6th Cantonment English school, 7th Silver Bells school, 8th Chittagong Public School and College, 9th Chittagong Govt High School, 10th Govt Muslim high school, 11th Nasirabad Govt high school, 12th Nasirabad Girls high school, 13th Jorargonj high school, 14th Bangladesh Naval high school, 15th Saint Placids high school, 16th Coxsbazar govt high school, 17th CUET School and college, 18th Coxsbazar Govt Girls' High School, 19th Aparnacharan City Coporation Girls' High School and South point School and College.
This year, a total of 86722 students appeared in SSC exams from 957 schools in 152 centers under Chittagong Education Board.
