Pandit Bihar University To Be Set Up Soon in Chittagong

A new public university named Pandit Bihar University, Chittagong is going to be approved by the government of Bangladesh soon.

This university will be situated at Anowara Upozilla, Chittagong.

Sources said, the proposed law has been sent for vetting at Ministry of Law.

Earlier, on April 25, 2013, University Grant Commission (UGC) submitted a demo of this in a meeting of Education Ministry and it was approved. Later, it was decided to send at the ministry of law for further vetting.

It is informed that, in 2012 Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina went to china. When discussing with the Chinese government about the transaction of culture, the university is spoke out. After returning to the country, the prime minister urged Dr. Zinobodhi Bikkhu to submit an application for this university. She also urged education ministry to take necessary steps for this university.

In the new university subjects will be - Therobad, Mohayana, Philosophy of Buddha, History of Buddhism, Business Administration, Philosophy, History etc.

Thousand years ago, on the era of Buddhism in Bangladesh, Pandit Bihar (Pandit Pagoda) was built at Anwara Upozilla of Chittagong. It was one of the most important Pagodas among the four in historical India. Educationists gathered there for sharing their knowledge, that's why such type of name 'Pandit'.

Bangladesh Government has decided to restore the glory of this 'Pandit Bihar' like other countries building universities in their historical places.
