To be eligible for the scholarship, the applicant must meet the following basic criteria :

o Age not over (a) 35 years for Ph.D. study, and (b) 40 years for Post-Doctoral research;

o Attached to a research/academic/development institution in science and technology in their respective country;

o Must possess the required academic background in the related field of their proposed study/research and have some professional/research experience in the respective field;

o Demonstrate that the research proposal has scientific and technological relevance with the objective of meeting the priority development needs of the country;

o Have good command of the language of the institution of study and the ability to conduct scientific work in it.

o The Applicant must be a citizen of an IDB member country, must be a permanent employee of an academic institution or research centre of his/ her country and must satisfy all the eligibility requirements of the programme.

The prospective applicants should visit the IDB website: www.isdb.org to download the programmes application form and to read full information about the eligibility requirements, how to apply, the programmes benefits and facilities as well as the names of Universities.

The applicants must complete the application form and send it together with all the requisite documents, as mentioned on the concluding page of the form, through the office of the IDB Governor for the applicants country and not directly to the IDB headquarters in Jeddah. The application must reach the concerned IDB Governors Office or its designated office by December 31, 2012.

All concerned are requested to kindly take necessary steps to obtain complete application forms along with requisite papers from deserving candidates in compliance with the announcement criteria and send the short list of nominees of the same to Education Relation Division(ERD) through Ministry of Education. Direct application to ERD would not be entertained.

All the applications submitted to the IDB Governor's Office are to go through the following process:
1. Screening by the IDB Governor's Office to forward to IDB the most eligible applications; In-house review at the IDB;
2. Scientific and technical evaluation of eligible applications by a panel of external reviewers composed of scientists and experts in their fields;
3. Final selection by the IDB.
