1. 1st class Master's Degree.
2. There should not be a gap of more than 6 years between the award of last degree (M.A., M.Sc., M.Phil., etc.) and application deadline (1st October).
3. Candidates must have a recent dated acceptance letter confirming academic supervision from a German Professor on the university's letterhead with a clear reference to the candidate's research proposal or
4. Candidates, who want to do a PhD under the structured doctoral study program, must attach an admission letter from their study program or at least a proof that they are being considered for admission.
5. A detailed research proposal including a precise work schedule are the most important selection criterion besides previous academic achievements.
6. German language skills are not mandatory.

After successful submission of the online application print 3 copies of the "application summary" and send them to the address mentioned in the Contact person and address section below.

The deadline for submission of hard copies of the "application summary" is 1st October of each year.
