Voting of CU Deans' Election Held

The first phase of advance voting for Chittagong University (CU) deans' election took place on July 30, 2012.
A total of 36 teachers voted in the first phase at CU Teachers Association (CUTA) office.
The second phase of advance voting will be held on August 2, 2012.
The deans' election for seven faculties of CU is scheduled for August 6, 2012.
The yellow panel, a teachers' group supporting the ruling Awami League, have become divided over the forthcoming dean election of CU.
One of the factions in the panel is led by Jyoti Prokash Dutta, dean of social science faculty, who has announced his independent candidacy in the deans' election scheduled on August 6.
Imran Hossain Khan, a professor of history department, is leading the other faction and is contesting the polls for the position of the arts faculty dean.
The white panel, supporting the BNP-Jamaat alliance, gave nominations to five teachers from as many faculties.
