NU Students of Chittagong Organized Protest Rally

Students of National University (NU) affiliated colleges of Chittagong organized a rally demanding implementation of six-point demands.
The rally held at Shaheed Minar premises at about 11:30am demanded allocation of 25 percent of the budget in the education sector. Hundreds of students from seven colleges of the port city under NU participated in the rally.
Their demands include establishing separate examination and classrooms and appointing sufficient teachers at the colleges, taking examination in due time with publishing results within three months, resolving the problem of teachers crisis at Chittagong College by appointing teachers at each department, resolving the crisis of classrooms at Chittagong Govt City College, turning the dormitory of Chittagong Commerce College which is defunct into academic building, facilitating of the female students of Nasirabad Government College through providing them hostel facility and introducing fifty percent concession to the students in transportation in the city.
The speakers at the rally said that with a view to upgrade the standard the academic activities of the colleges the government had established NU in 1992. But due to the apathy of the authority concerned the academic and infrastructural condition of the colleges affiliated with NU is laming, destroying academic life of thousands of students, they added.
Moreover session jam is jeopardizing the life of students. It takes 7-8 years to achieve master degree from colleges under NU due to the horrible session jam, prevailing at each and every session. After completing the master’s programme the students find themselves at the end of the age limit for government jobs.
