HDSTU Students Protest Demanding Arrest of the Murderer

Hajee Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU) authority yesterday suspended all academic activities of the university for five days to prevent any untoward incident following the murder of a student near the campus on Saturday.

The decision came from a meeting of the academic council held on Saturday midnight with Vice Chancellor Professor M Afzal Hossain in the chair.

Sources informed that, the university will go on a 15-day summer vacation from June 15. Therefore, classes and examinations will remain suspended for 20 days until June 30.

Earlier, A Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activist was murdered in a fractional clash between two BCL groups at Hazi Mohammad Danesh Science & Technology University (HDSTU).

The deceased was identified as Mahfuz Biplob, 25, son of Babla, hailed from Thakurgaon District. He was joint general secretary of HDSTU BCL.

It is informed that, a BCL activist named Mrinal Goswami chopped Biplob severely following a past argument between HDSTU BCL president and general secretary. However, Mrinal went into hiding soon after the incident.

Students of the HDSTU also brought out a procession on the campus demanding immediate arrest of Mrinal and others involved in the killing.
