The admission tests of Barisal University for admission in the 1st year honors courses will begin on November 3, 2012.

The admission tests of the 'Ka', 'Kha' and 'Ga' unit would be held from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at 22 examination centers, including Barisal University hall room, Govt. Boys' school, Model high school and college, Govt Hatem Ali College, Govt. Women's college and Govt BM College. On the other hand, admission test for 'Gha' unit (transfer) will be from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Lists of the other centers will be declared soon.

The seat plan will be published on November 1, 2012 on the university website http://barisaluniv.edu.bd/ and will be found on the following link Eduicon Seat Plan and at the notice board of the university.

Admission seekers have to enter the examination hall 30 minutes before the test begins.

A 120-mark one-hour written admission test in the MCQ system would be held on that day at four government colleges and two government schools of the city, and 80 marks for viva and academic results would be counted from the candidates passing in the written test.

A total of 665 students would be selected from the total 17,990 applicants in the order of merit according to the results in the 120 marks written test and the 80 marks counted for their HSC and SSC results.

This year the authority increased four new subjects here. The numbers of total faculties here now are 10. Newly included subjects are Accounting and Information System, Soil and Environment Science, Public Administration and Bangla.

Sources said that, 2,388 students applied for 'Ka' Unit (Science faculty), 4,418 students applied for the 'Kha' unit, 7347 students for 'Ga' unit and 3837 for 'Gha' unit.

Twenty-seven admission seekers are contesting for each of the 665 seats in the 4 units of 10 faculties in the second admission test of BU under the 2012-13 academic session, and around 73 percent of the admission seekers will not be able to get admission in the second batch of BU this session.

All admitted students would be awarded scholarships and a trust would be formed to collect scholarship funds for attracting admission of meritorious students in BU.

Sources informed that, classes would be started at the temporary campus of BU in the Barisal Zilla School, till the completion of the permanent campus at Karnakathi on the eastern bank of the River Kirtonkhola in the Sadar upazila of the district.
