20 Arrested for Leaking Question Paper
A total of 20 people have been arrested by Detective Branch (DB) of police, in separate drives for their alleged involvement in admission test question paper leak.
On October 22, 2012 DB held 11 people from different areas of the city for their alleged involvement in this matter.
Earlier on October 21, 2012 five persons, including an official of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), were held for their alleged involvement in university admission irregularities.
They were - Assistant inspector of ACC Mofizur Rahman, a former student of Dhaka University (DU) English Department Abdullah Al Mamun, a former student of DU Mass Communication and Journalism Department Nurul Huda, a 3rd year student of DU Political Science Department Amitabh Chowdhury Amit, a BBA 7th semester student of American International University, Bangladesh (AIUB) Refayet Sami.
They were arrested by DB police from the call list source of the four arrestees who were arrested on October 20, 2012 on charges of kidnapping a university admission seeker named Harunur Rashid Hira for ransom.
Besides, on October 22, 2012 DB police recovered 20 mobile phone sets, resemblance with wrist watch, used in leaking question papers of government jobs, university admission tests.
Sources informed that, different types of contracts were done for supplying admission test question with a cost of 60,000-1,50,000 BDT.
Moreover, 139 special made Chinese wrist watches have been recovered by police. By using this watch, one can send answers to an admission seeker just like mobile phone SMS. The watch can also function like a mobile phone. A SIM card has to be inserted in the watch for that. User can use a headphone to hear the answers.
