Fresher’s Multimedia Presentation Contest held in EU

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) of Eastern University arranged the 6th Intra-University Fresher’s Multimedia Presentation Contest (IUFMPC), Spring 2017 on 24th April at the Seminar Hall of Eastern University (EU) in association with Eastern University Computing Club.

Freshers of all Departments of Eastern University are taught Computer Fundamental course where multimedia presentation skill is expected to be developed as an emphasized outcome of the course. This contest is devised by the CSE Department as a tool to produce a competitive outcome of this specific course.

It is a three-tier contest. From the very first day of starting of the semester, instructor of the course instructed the students regarding the contest so that they can prepare for the whole semester to attend in the contest. In this semester, 9 such sections are running in Eastern University and our dedicated instructors have been continuously mentoring for their substantial improvement in multimedia presentation skills. From each section only best 5 contestants were selected for second round. In the second round, a panel of eight judges selected the best three contestants from among almost 25 contestants. In the prize giving ceremony, Mr. Md. Ali Azzam, Member of BOT, was present as the chief guest. Mr. Muhammed Siddique Hossain, Treasurer of EU; Mr. Abul Bashar Khan, Registrar of EU; Prof. Dr. Md. Nurul Islam, Dean of the faculty of Engineering and Technology (E&T), and Ms. Dewan Amana Sultana, Controller of Exam, were present as the special guests. Mr. Syed Ishtiaque Reza, Director (News) of 71 TV and Mr. Mohammad Imtiaj, Director, Public Relations of EU were honorable judges and Prof. Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Chairperson of CSE was present as the session chair.

Account BenefitFatimatu Zohra of Law department became the Champion, Md. Makjumul Hasan of Law Department became the first runner-up and Saif Safwan of CSE Department became the second runner-up. Each of the winners were awarded with crests and certificates and the participants were awarded with certificates.

With this contest a certified and presentable student resource pool has been created throughout the campus that they are expected to excel in different activities, especially in club/forum events.
The winners of the previous contests have already proved their worth inside and outside the campus. Wardi Zaman of Law Dept, winner of the first contest, participated in the International round of Henri Dunant Moot Court Competition of 2015 held on 29th November in Lahore, Pakistan. Asfeqa Rahman Mim of CSE Dept, represented students of Eastern University as a panelist in youth program titled ‘Youth Voice’. The program was aired on at SATV.

Panel of judges expected that winners of this contest will surely bring further success for Eastern University. Valuable presence of the distinguished guests and enthusiastic participation of the contestants and audience made this contest a grant success. Special mention goes to the CSE team members who have been taking troubles throughout the journey and without spontaneous support of whom it would not happen.
