Deadlock continues in JnU

The 2nd day of students strike demanding dormitories cripples Jagannath University (JnU). They are demanding construction of residential halls for students in the abandoned field of the central prison.

According to the previously announced activities, students locked the main gate of different departments and takes position there on the 20th day of the protest program from 8:30 am on August 21, 2016 (Sunday). All types of class-exams are closed.

They also took out a procession on the campus. The procession goes back to campus through rounding Victoria Park. Later, students started their sit-in program in front of different department buildings through dividing into small groups after locking the department gates.

Earlier on August 18, 2016 (Thursday), the observed the general strike on the same demand through locking the main entrance of the University and blocking the road. The university authorities did not take any of the classes and tests on that day.

Account BenefitThe University Proctor Dr. Noor Mohammad said, "The teachers are attending classes. The teachers are on campus to take classes and exams. It is the matter of them that students participate in academic program or not."

The students started their movements on August 02, 2016 demanding construction of residential halls for students in the abandoned field of the central prison on the name of National Four Leaders.

JnU authorities submitted an application to the Home Secretary on March 23, 2014 demanding the land of central prison. But the issue still did not responded by the authority.
