Technical edn for women empowering

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said that the vocational education is creating more employment opportunities in the country.

The minister said that at a fresher's reception function for the newly admitted students in the 4-year diploma in engineering course held in Dhaka Mohila Polytechnic Institute in the capital on August 16, 2016 (Tuesday).

Nahid said, "In many cases, it is seen that thousands of students become unemployed even after the completion of higher education. But those who receive vocational education or training needn't sit at home without job. They can get job immediately after they pass. They never have to pursue the job. Oppositely, the job pursues them."

He put emphasis on the vocational education and training to create more skilled persons. For this, he recommended for regular training.

Account BenefitThe present government has brought a breakthrough change in the field of vocational education. The admission rate in vocational education was 1.02 percent in 2008 which has now risen to 13.11 percent. This rate will be increased to 20 percent or more by 2020, he added.

The minister added that the government’s effort was on to increase participation of women in vocational trainings. One women polytechnic institute has been set up in each of four divisional cities, the minister said. The minister said 20 percent seats in the polytechnic institutes are reserved for female students and that all the female polytechnic students get government scholarship.
