British Council to help students

The British Council-Bangladesh will assist secondary school and madrasa students in improving their English speaking and listening skills.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the education ministry and the British Council in this regard.

Additional Secretary of Education Ministry Chowdhury Mufad Ahmed and Director of British Council Barbara Wickham signed the MoU on February 07, 2016 (Sunday).

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid was present at the signing ceremony. According to the MoU, the British Council will assist Bangladesh secondary and madrasa students for two years to improve their English speaking and listening skill.

Account BenefitAlso the British council will extend their supports to give trainings of teachers at secondary schools and madrasas so that they can contribute in improving communications skills of students in English language.

It will survey to find out the obstacles in learning English and later take steps to solve them. The minister said, "Reading and writing are not enough for one's English proficiency. Speaking and listening are also crucially important."
