Human Chain at RU Protests Ex-student Kidnapping

Human Chain at Rajshahi University

Some teachers and students of Rajshahi University (RU) on February 01, 2016 formed a human chain demanding to trace out an ex-student of RU who was abducted on January 21.

The abducted former student is identified as ARM Akhtaruzzaman, a former manager of Exim Bank Rajshahi branch. Some unidentified miscreants allegedly abducted Akhtaruzzaman from Sultanabad area.

More than 300 students and faculty members of finance and banking department under the banner of 'Family of finance and banking department of Rajshahi University' took part in the human chain in front of the university's central library around 11:00 am.

Account BenefitExpressing grave concerned the chairman of the department, Amjad Hossain, said it is a matter of distress that after eleven days Akhtaruzzaman still remains missing as law enforcers failing to trace him out.

"We will go for a tougher movement if the law enforcers don't find him immediately", he added. Akhtaruzzaman's wife Shamima Jaman sought Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's interference in this regard.

Assistant Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Detective Branch Sushanta Roy said that they were trying to trace Akhtaruazzaman.
