Failed MBBS students can join main batch

Medical students who could not pass the first professional Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery examinations (MBBS curriculum-2012) held in May, will be able to join their academic classes with their main batch.

The unsuccessful students will also be able to appear in the second professional examinations to be held in May, 2016 after passing unsuccessful subjects of their first professional exam in November next fulfilling other conditions.

The decision was taken at a view-exchange meeting on new curriculum of medical education at Health and Family Welfare Ministry conference room. "The government has taken the decision with sincerity", Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim said this, while talking to Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council leaders.

Expressing his hope, the Minister said unsuccessful medical students could join their academic classes respecting the government's decision. He said the present MBBS course curriculum had been changed aimed at improving quality of the medical education.

"The present government has been working for the welfare of people and I, myself, as a minister always respect the people's feelings. The government is responsible to accept legal demand whatever it is from any quarter", Mohammad Nasim stated.

Earlier, the minister instructed his ministry officials to finalize a time-befitting and people oriented National Medicine Policy-2015 sooner. Nasim said the government is committed to implement the new medicine policy, adding, "Necessary measures have to be taken for placing the medicine policy before the cabinet meeting by this month after finalizing it".
