Dhaka University Official Dismissed, Two Suspended

Dhaka University official dismissed

The authorities have permanently dismissed an official of Dhaka University (DU) after getting the probe of alleged sexual harassment.

Two others are temporarily suspended. The decision was taken at the syndicate meeting of Dhaka University on July 13, 2015 (Monday night). The permanently dismissed officer is the section officer of the Dean Office of Business Studies Faculty Zakaria Kabir.

In addition, senior technician of Leather Engineering and Technology Institute Abdul Baten and the research assistant of Soil, Water and Environment department Gazi Mohammad Babul, both of them also arrested on charges of terrorism were temporarily suspended.

Account BenefitThe syndicate members said, section officer of the Dean Office of Business Studies Faculty Zakaria Kabir has been permanently dismissed due to sexually harassing a female student of Marketing Department on condition of providing academic facilities.

Zakaria recently joined the service. He is still in a novice level, so without any reason or no other method has been permanently terminated.

The criminal cases are pending in the court against two others. They will be permanently terminated if found guilty in the court, said the syndicate members.
