Female Students Mostly Dropped Out at HSC Level

Girls dropout rate increasing at HSC

Many of the female students in country are dropped out from HSC level, although they are quite ahead in high school level.

The number of girls in school level is 53 percent of the total students. The number of male students is 47 percent. But there is a reverse image in the higher secondary level.

The reduced number of female students in this level standing at 47 percent and the number of students is 53 percent. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said that at the Q&A session of the national parliament on June 29, 2015 (Monday).

Education Minister answered the question of Nizam Uddin Hazari about this, the number of students at the secondary level is 85 lakh 1 thousand 442. Among them, 45 lakh 19 thousand 91 (53%) students are female and 39 lakh 82 thousand 351 (47%) students are male.

Account BenefitOn the other hand, a total of 31 lakh 94 thousand 787 students are in the higher secondary level. 16 lakh 94 thousand 267 (53%) students are male and 15 lakh 520 (47%) students are female among them.

However, the participation of girls in higher education is increasing than in the past, the minister said.

He also said that, the government has given 1 thousand of crore taka for Education Assistance Trust Fund to in order to bring equality between women and men in education. 10 percent male students and 30 percent poor female students in bachelor level and are given stipends from this fund.
