Educational Life of 7 Hundred Students becomes Uncertain

Hunger strike at National Press Club

Educational life of 7 hundred students, who were admitted to MBBS and BDS courses in private medical colleges under the academic session 2013-14, becomes uncertain due to the negligence of Health Ministry.

The students are extremely frustrated by not getting registration 1.5 years after admission due to the legal complexities. They demanded the registration by means of humanitarian considerations.

Students from hunger strike program in front of the National Press Club under the banner of Private Medical and Dental College Student Association demanding the admission registration on May 05, 2015 (Wednesday).

A victim student Md. Rezwan said, "Almost seven hundred students were admitted in 45 private medical colleges in MBBS and BDS courses by taking 120 marks entrance test under the academic session 2013-14. But that result was cancelled before the students' registration for the negligence of Health Ministry. Later the students filed a writ petition in High Court. The ministry did not provide registration for admitted students despite getting order from the court. The ministry suspended it through appealing in the court.

Account BenefitRezwan said, those students cannot get the registration even though they were continuing class activities from last one and a half years, because the issue is pending in the High Court.

Student Md. Shamim Ahmed said, these students were not been admitted somewhere else seeking the registration. Educational life of these students will be destroyed if they not getting registration. We were unable to attend the first professional exam due to not having registration.

Supplementary of this exam will be held again after six months. The student will be able to attend the professional exam if they're registered before the exam.
