Digital textbooks for 6th grade

The government will introduce 'interactive digital textbooks' for school students on an experimental basis from the next education year said, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on 03 April 2015.

While addressing the closing ceremony of a workshop at National Academy for Education Management (NAEM), the minister said, "Class VI students will get 'interactive digital textbooks' from the academic year 2016 besides the conventional textbooks and students of other classes will get the digital textbooks gradually."

The Education Minister noted that there is no alternative to adopting information technology to ensure quality development, comprehensiveness, attraction and access to education.

Account Benefit"Textbooks must be filled with more colors and made more attractable. We have taken the initiative to introduce interactive digital textbooks for all the classes", he said.

To make the hard words, sentences and topics in all the books more comprehensive, colorful photos, animation and videos will be used in those interactive books, he added.

The program was also addressed by the Education Secretary Nazrul Islam Khan; Teaching Quality Improvement Project director Bonomali Bhowmik; and director general of NAEM, Professor Hamidul Haque. The program was chaired by the Director General of Secondary and Higher Education Directorate, Professor Fahima Khatun.
