NU to take 10 special steps

National University (NU) has made the class attendance mandatory for more than two thousand affiliated colleges to improve quality. The step is taken to provide quality teaching for 25 lakh students.

However, 9 more special steps are being taken to restore academic mobility. The plans have been taken to be freed the National University from Session Jam.

Concerned said, the whole education system of National University has fall down because of no regular class activities, teacher shortage, lack of efficient and competent teachers, lack of training for current teachers, guide-note-based education and so-called exams.

According to the sources, university authorities are thinking to take ten new steps for developing the quality college education. Those are-

1. Centralized monitoring for educational activities. And open the central monitoring cell.
2. Using the regional centers for supervising the educational activities.
3. Trainings to provide for teachers.
4. Restrictions imposed on the presence of students in the class. Organize sports and cultural activities to increase their interest in class.
5. College ranking system through the results.
6. Determines the student-teacher ratio in the class.
7. Keep the number of students in the capacity.
8. 70 best colleges from 10 parts of the country to be awarded formally in every year.
9. Centralized textbook writing project.
10. Revise the teacher recruitment system. Transfer and promotion of teachers to made easier.

Account Benefit"NU is the largest university in the country with 2,154 colleges (275 public and 1,879 private), about 21 lakh students and around 60,000 teachers. About 100 different sorts of examinations are held at the NU annually and it takes six to seven months to publish exam results", said the NU Vice-Chancellor.
