Production and Usage of Jute should be Increased

Jute eats up Carbon Dioxide (CO2) from the air and release Oxygen. Jute takes 12 metric ton of Carbon Dioxide during the field time in 120 days. At the same time they release 11 metric ton of oxygen.

On the other hand, jute products are recognized as environmentally friendly considering the whole aspects. Jute is beneficial for environment in all cases from production stage to destruction. So the production and usage of jute must be increased.

The information and recommendations are presented through the keynote paper on a program titled 'Hafiz Uddin Ahmed and Fatima Ahmed Trust Speech' at Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTex).

Chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC) Professor Dr. AK Azad Chowdhury spokes on the occasion as the chief guest. Director General of Jute Research Institute Dr. Kamal Uddin spokes as the special guest while the Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh University of Textiles Professor Masood Ahmed chaired the program.

Account BenefitSponsor of the Trust and Professor of Philosophy department at Dhaka University Rashida Akhter Khanam given the welcome speech. Professor of the Civil Engineering Department of BUET Abdul Jabbar Khan presented the keynote paper.

The keynote paper said, jute can be used for many purposes like rural roads construction using the technology, reduce mountain collapses without the traditional use of jute. This type of jute usage is called 'Jute Geo-Textile'.

Professor Rashida Akhter Khanam said, my father was worked here for research and development of jute when the university was College. There are several international standards books of him on this subject. Mainly we have established this trust to spread my father's works to the next generations.
