Various diseases spreading at RU

Mosquito irritation increased at the Rajshahi University (RU) campus. The campus becomes the kingdom of mosquitoes during evening time.

Students of residence halls are not protected from torture of mosquitoes. Students have to finish the job of setting mosquito nets before the night comes. They also have to finish their study under the mosquito nets.

There are piles of dirt beside 16 residential halls of the university, next to the academic buildings, besides the floating food shops in different places of the campus, and around the stadium area. These areas are becomes mosquito breeding centers due to not cleaning for a long time.

In addition, bushes in different places across the campus are not cleaned for a long time. As a result, the mosquito irritation increased massively at Zuberi Field, Shaheed Minar Tukitaki and Iblish Premises, Sabash Bangladesh, Paschim Paar including the residential halls.

Students are suffering from various diseases due to mosquito bites. Several students of residential halls said, we are facing various problems as well as study problem due to the mosquito irritation. It is not possible to study more time using Mosquito Coils. So they demanded the needed action from the concerned authority.

Account BenefitStudent Advisor of the University, Professor Dr. Sadekul Arefin Matin said, "I've realized the problem. But the spray apply to destruction of mosquito is not the work of university. Rajshahi City Corporation applied the sprays every year, when the mosquito irritation increased."

Chief Executive Engineer of Rajshahi City Corporation Md. Ashraful Haque said, "The spray medicine did not come to us yet. However, the authorities informed that the medicine will come in a day or two. The spray will be applied in every bushes and residential hall of the University after reaching the medicine in the next 4-5 days.
