Various industries and big mansions are constructed in everywhere of the country in unplanned ways. Cultivable lands geometrically decreasing day by day.

Fertilizers and pesticides are being used in the lands in unplanned levels to supply the foods for increased population. As a result, the fertile lands are becoming infertile day by day.

A novel method of short time and low cost vegetables cultivating was discovered, when the country at door of various crises created by nature and human. And this method was invented by the Associate Professor of Horticulture Department of Sher-E-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU), Dr. Jahidur Rahman.

Name of the method is 'Low Cost System of Hydroponics'. Dr. Jahidur Rahman has succeeded in this special method cultivation on Lettuce leaves. Cocksheet growers, abandoned coconut coir, wood powder, rice kura and ash is used to cultivate Lettuce. A nutrient solution named 'Rahman and Indene' has been used in this system for growth of seedlings.

Account BenefitHe said, Hydroponic lettuce is fresh and bright more than the general lettuce. So in any case, it is more useful than ordinary lettuce. Usually this lettuce is ready to eat within 21 to 28 days. This lettuce grew too fast and leaves are comparatively fresh, juicy, thick and delicious comparing the lettuce born on the ground. It takes half the time of cultivating in the soil.

This method is best in quality, capable of high production, more healthy and tasty. There are no possibilities of pollution or disease transmission in this method. So, it does not require any type of pesticides.
