The 2nd Convocation of BUP Held on February 1

President Abdul Hamid highlighted the need for laying in continuous efforts by all related to raise the quality of country's higher education to international level.

There're over 100 institutions - both public and private for higher studies in the country now. The area of higher education has expanded with a rise in the number of universities. But we have to put in continuous efforts to raise the quality of higher education to international level", he said.

The President said this while speaking at the 2nd convocation of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) at its campus on February 01, 2015. A total of 416 graduates received certificates at the function with nine of them winning gold medals for their outstanding results.

President Hamid further said, "We have to keep in mind that higher education is not limited to only book-based education. Trained teachers not only teach students in universities but also unveil new knowledge for their students." Stressing the need for ensuring science and information technology-based education for turning the young generation into skilled human resources, the President, also the chancellor of the university said the country needs skilled human resources to exploit its huge potential for development and progress.

Account Benefit"I hope the public and private universities would play an important role in producing skilled human resource through utilizing the existing facilities", he added. Pointing at the graduates, the President said, "Today, you're the higher standard of human resources. We have to keep in mind that today's convocation is giving you a formal recognition of your achievement on one hand and it is bestowing responsibilities on you on the other."

UGC Chairman, Professor Dr. AK Azad Chowdhury delivered the convocation speech, while Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid and BUP VC Major General Sheikh Mamun Khaled also spoke on the occasion.
