Reunion of Dhaka College

Dhaka College premises became colorful with the former students before 9:30 am. Registered students has taken different tokens and gift hampers with the ID cards.

Once a popular Bangla Professor of Dhaka College, Rowshan Ara Rahman; Home Secretary, Dr. Mojammel Haque Khan; Special Assistant to the Prime Minister and a former professor at the College, Selima Khatun; Dr. Abdus Sobhan Golap; former captain of the Bangladesh cricket team, ASM Rakibul Hasan was presented ceremony there.

The reunion program was begun with the soul music national anthem. The national flag was hoisted by the chief guest. Principal Dr. Ayesha Begum hoisted the college flag and Salima Khatun hoisted the reunion flag. The colorful balloons were blown away in the blue sky. White Dove the symbol of peace also blown away in the sky. Colorful fireworks created to try increase the level of joy.

Quran reciting phase was in the beginning of the program. The guests were adorned with flowers and maroon scarf. The slogan of the program was "Niye Gourab- Otit o Onagoto, Cholesi Amra Bondhur Moto".

Dhaka College was established in 1841. This educational institution is the silent witness of the two World War disasters and the achievements of the Indian subcontinent as well as Bangladesh, India and Pakistan. Once the college building was at the Siddik Bazar area of the capital. Shahidullah Hall of Dhaka University was the science building of Dhaka College.

Account BenefitThe program was divided into two phases, the first phase is the opening ceremony and the second phase was remembrance. Principal of the college welcomed the former students at the opening ceremony. The research journal of the college was launched in this episode. In her welcome speech the Principal urged the former students to form an Alumni Association. So an Alumni building is necessary in the campus.

In the speech session, cricketer Rakibul Hasan said, Dr. Muhammad Jafar Iqbar is my friend. I meet him here and got other friends. I am Rakibul Hasan because of Dhaka College. I was the only representative of Bangladesh in the Pakistan team while I was in the college.

Dr. Muhammad Jafar Iqbar said, I was a student of this college during the mass movement of seventy nine. We were then responsible for throwing stones to the EPR (current BGB) and leaving the College. Both works were easy.

Former Principal Rowshan Ara Rahman said, I was the first female teacher in this college. I was working from 1959 to 1984. She reminisced about the first day of class- I have to do roll call in my first class. I started to call. Students were says yes sir by their habits and bite the tongue. At one stage the classroom starts laughing. And I said, yes sir, yes ma'am both acceptable but no laughing.
