Researchers facing difficulties at BRUR

Educational activities of M.Phil and Ph.D courses are not introduced after passing two years of admission. Even the syllabus was not being formulated. 23 enrolled researchers faced difficulties due to this.

Some of them are dropped their researches because of not starting the educational activities for long time. The researchers from various government and non government organizations by taking vacation from their respective organizations are disgusted about that.

This is the image of Dr. Wazed Research Institute of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur. The researchers' complaint that they have not taking any initiative to resolve this despite the institute authorities fully aware of this problem.

Director of Dr. Wazed Research Institute and Vice-Chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur, AKM Nur-un-Nabi said, "I'm working in the University with various disadvantages after joining. The issue will be taken seriously at the next Senate meeting."

According to the University, Dr. Wazed Research Institute was established in 2009 by the recommendations of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and taking approval from the honorable Chancellor. And the decision was taken at the 17th syndicate meeting of the university on March 2011 to introduce M.Phil and Ph.D degrees in this institute.

Account BenefitThe Board of Studies was formed for the institute. The admissions notice for M.Phil and Ph.D degree was published in the national newspapers on March 2012. 15 candidates for M.Phil, 7 candidates for Ph.D in 2011-12 academic session, title of their researches and name of the supervisors was authorized at the 28th syndicate meeting of the university.

Researchers was admitted on December 2012 for two years M.Phil by depositing Tk. 19,000/- and three years Ph.D by depositing Tk. 23,000/-. They were taken leaves from their own organizations for research work. But until now the educational activities are not started. They have facing many problems for failing to submit a progress report on the course.

Vice-Chancellor AKM Nur-un-Nabi said, "There is no building for the Research Institute. Even there is no syllabus for research. There are only two rooms allocated. In this situation, a project proposal of Tk. 70 crore has recently been submitted to the Ministry to build its own building."
