Chemical Biology & DNA Research Lab

A 'Chemical Biology & DNA Research Lab' has been established at the Department of Clinical Pharmacy & Pharmacology of Dhaka University (DU).

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique innaugrurated the Lab as chief guest at a function held Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Pharmacy Lecture Theater.

Chairperson of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy & Pharmacology Prof. Farida Begum presided over the function while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Nasreen Ahmad, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam and former Dean of the Faculty Prof. Dr. ABM Faroque addressed as special guests. Prof. Dr. SM Abdur Rahman delivered welcome speech.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Arefin Siddique urged the teachers and researchers to play pioneering role to develop health services and drug industries of the country using the 'Chemical Biology & DNA Research Lab' properly. He stressed on sharing inter faculty resources & instruments and said, a developing country like Bangladesh is not able to provide sufficient money to promote lab facilities for every department. Therefore, the Departments have to conduct research together using the lab facilities of a particular Department as per need. He also highly expressed the hope that the researchers of the 'Chemical Biology & DNA Research Lab' of Dhaka University would play an important role to prevent cancer and diabetic diseases in the country.
