US Environmental Delegation calls on DU

A four-member environmental delegation led by Swarupa Ganguly, Team Lead of Municipal Solid Waste Climate Change Division of the Environmental Protection Agency, USA called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique today (Thursday), June 19, 2014 at the latter's office of the university.

Other members of the delegation were Nimmi Damodaran, PhD, Vice President and Joseph Donahue, Senior Policy Analyst of Stratus Consulting, USA, and Mr. Scott Messier, Sanitary Landfill Expert, Environmental Protection Agency, USA. Among others, Mr. Maksud Alam, Assistant Engineer (Mechanical), Waste Management Department of Dhaka North City Corporation was also present on the occasion.

During the meeting, they discussed matters of mutual interests particularly ongoing solid waste management project of the Environmental Protection Agency, USA in the Dhaka North City Corporation areas. Members of the delegation informed that the US agency has been providing technical assistance and human resource development training to the north city corporation personnel in managing huge wastages of the densely populated capital city of Bangladesh. The delegates praised the management skills of the city dwellers and termed as a role model for other metropolitan cities of the world.
