Paper airplane contest at SUST

Declining afternoon of Summer season, students have come to the open ground of the university with airplanes made by colorful wrapping paper after the end of the classes, tests, and lab.

Some of them registered to participate in the competition and some of them made the paper airplanes at three booth of the open ground.

The paper airplane flying contest held at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) campus on April 08, 2014 with much enthusiasm and festivity. Tinge of festival were exists across the campus.

The Young Research Group Robotic Aeronautics and interfacing Research (RobAero) organized the ‘Paper Plane’ or ‘Paper Airplane’ flying contest with an initiative of the eminent scientist and novelist Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal.

This type of primary contest is arranges for the work in Drone Team, says the leader of RobAero, Syed Rejaul Haque Nabil. The selected students will get the chance to participate next 'Glider' round and selected students will be given the opportunity to work with the Drone Team. This unique initiative has taken by the advisor of RobAero, Professor Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal.

Account BenefitProfessor Muhammad Zafar Iqbal and Yasmin Haque inaugurated the paper airplane flying competition by flying a red and a green paper airplane at the Education Building next to the open ground. Professor Yasmin Haque was the winner. The present teachers also participated in the Demo competition. Proctor Himadri Sekhar Roy won among them. The main stage of the competition starts after that. 172 students were participated in the competition in these two categories 'Runner' and 'Nabik'.

Professor Muhammad Zafar Iqbal said on the prize giving session, "This event is just for fun. All of you know that we're working on Drone. This competition is arranged to spread the matter among everyone. The Glider competition will be arranged for those who have won this competition".
