BOU at Saint Martin Island

Bangladesh Open University (BOU) will launch its Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) program in Saint Martin Island of Coxbazar District.

BOU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. MA Mannan disclosed it while visiting the proposed land of Coxbazar Sub Regional Office and Saint Martin Island recently.

Uzzal Bhowmick, Head Master Bangladesh Navy Islamic high school of Saint Martin Island and the local people met with the Vice-Chancellor of BOU and requested him to open a Study Center of the University to facilitate education for the drop out students of local area. Director, Planning and Development Dr. M. Fazleah Ali, Regional Director, Chittagong Dr. Md. Azizul Hoque, were also present at the time.

Account BenefitThe Vice-Chancellor immediately took the decision to facilitate education for the people of the Island for spreading education. Earlier Vice-Chancellor along with the to member team visited Teknaf and Saint Martin Island in a fusibility study to established Sub-Regional Center.

It is to be mention here that there is only one high school and three primary schools are in the Saint Martin Island. People deprived from education with due reason, Fishermen and other community of the society of Saint Martin Island will have the privilege of education through the BOU Study Center and will be able to work as efficient manpower.
