Chittagong Nursing College Students Call off Hunger Strike

Students of Chittagong Nursing College on July 3, 2013 withdrew their hunger strike following an assurance of having their demands met by the relevant ministry. They began the strike on July 1, 2013.

College Principal Hosne Ara Begum got the nursing students call off their strike in the evening, said Nursing Students Welfare Association General Secretary Farzana Quader.

The demands were (to) introduce a 6-month or 1-year internship after completion of four-year B.Sc. in Nursing course for improving professional skill, raise stipend to Tk 3000 per head and permit wearing apron as protective cloth over uniform during clinical practice.

Assurance was given for implementing the demands within next three months, she added.
