1st Ever Bangla Web Search Engine Developed by SUST Team
A team of 11 young and creativity students of Computer Science and Engineering Department of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) have developed first ever multilingual Web Search Engine Pipilika in Bangladesh both in Bengali and English.
With the direct collaboration of leading IT firm in Bangladesh GPIT, they built it as their thesis part. The members of the team are Mishu, Talha, Talha Ibne Imam, Towhid Sazzad, Asif, Baker, Apu, Farhad Ashish and Maksud. In addition, there has 30 students and the project has been created on the basis of their thesis.
The search engine is able to supply up-to-date news, articles, reviews etc. of different news portals. Renowned Search Engines have not paid much attention on Bengali search. So, they tried to give more emphasize on Bengali news analysis and searching.
Developer's said that, it's a gift of "Pahela Baishakh" or "Happy Bangla New Year" to the country. Pipilika is the Bangla world but its English meaning is Ant.
Many search engines has in the world. Worldwide famous and topes search engine is Google. Actually, it is the new journey for the Bangladeshi developer and engineers' towards the worldwide completions.
Bangladesh developers made different kinds of software's or website in the worldwide but its new website which is first for Bangladesh.
Professor Dr. Muhammad Jafar Iqbal was the project director and Ruhul Amin Sajib was main researcher and team leader.
Ruhul Amin Sajib said, "We have uploaded the beta version and we are always developing the features and functions. Anyone can send us advice."
The developers said that, it's a beta version that's why people may face some problem to use it but readers can find their searched topics easily.
The beta version of Pikilika search, it's a free web service that helps the country to search for the latest available data. In the first stage, this search engine automatically analyzes the data and save of Bangladeshi main Bengali and English newspapers news, blogs Bengali and Bengali Wikipedia.
Pipilika has 4 different types of search facilities of data, News search, blog search, and the search for Bengali Wikipedia e-data cell.
There have also some parts of searching- General search, location-based search, and the class-based (category) search. But there are location-based search, and the class-based (category) search is available for Bangla Version The team leader Sajib told that, "Our Bengali dictionary has been used for the Pipilika Bangla Search. If a user has an incorrect spelling of words, the Pipilika will automatically find the correct spelling of a word that runs through the search results and the user does with his words were spelled wrong, correct it with a search has been executed."
If users want to search that's wrong words then can do it again. But we don't use it for English Search. If a user Location based on the search space in case of a name into the search box and try to write in English, then automatically the Pipilika will try to give as suggestions in the name of the place by Bengali.
Users can easily search their information on District wise latest news according to the category, for Example - crime, business, science and technology, sports, agriculture and information. On the other side, the search for category base Pipilika the news, international, business, and trade, information and technology, entertainment and sports as a category for six.
Young developer told that, its beta version, users can face some problems to search the news.
