Aircraft Maintenance Engineering - World

Aerospace engineering and Aircraft Maintenance Engineering are now in great demand worldwide following rapid expansion of air transport and restrictions.

Students who wish to work in the aviation industry can study aerospace or aeronautical engineering. Aeronautical or aerospace engineering deals with the design and manufacture of aircraft while AME trains one for servicing the aircraft.

In the aviation industry, aeronautical engineers, aircraft maintenance engineers and pilots are indispensable, though their duties are different. The industry has three main areas—aircraft design and manufacturing, maintenance and flying.

Aeronautical or aerospace engineering involves the application of engineering principles and technical know-how to design, construct and operate an aircraft. Aircraft maintenance engineers are responsible for keeping the aircraft in perfect flying conditions. They are involved in the repair and maintenance of aircraft.

To enrich experienced & skillful persons in this aviation industry there is a college in Bangladesh named College of Aviation Technology (CATECH). CATECH is approved by the Bangladesh Technical Education Board. It is providing professional courses on Aviation Management, `Travel, Tourism & Ticketing`, Air Hostess and Cabin Crew.

CATECH offers several courses as per rules and regulations of the BTEC, Edexcel (UK) & International Accreditation in Aerospace engineering. It prepares students for Aircraft Maintenance License (AML) with National Diploma and Higher Diploma in Aerospace Engineering courses. Moreover it contains the following courses – Diploma Engineering in Aerospace Engineering (3 years), Higher Diploma in Aerospace Engineering (3 years), B.Sc in Aeronautical Engineering (4 years), Aviation Management Course (3 Months) etc.

Being the first residential Aerospace institution in Bangladesh, CATECH aims to produce engineers with outstanding professional qualities as the trainees live a disciplined and regulated life at the hostel.

The mission of College of Aviation Technology is to promote learning by engaging with students in advancing scholarly inquiry, cultivating critical and creative thought and generating knowledge. Our active partnerships with local and global communities contribute to a sustainable common good.
