Carmichael College, Rangpur is a part of heritage and history of Uttar Bongo (Northern part of Bangladesh). It is indeed one of the oldest and best colleges in the country.

As the college's age, hundred years of this institution will be completed in the coming year. In the meantime, the former students already started to think about what can be conducted in the centenary celebration.

More than 27000 students in HSC, Honors and Masters levels are currently studying in this college. HSC education is controlled by the Dinajpur Education Board, when 18 Honors and Masters Programs are taught according to the guidance of National University.

No other college in the country can boast of so beautiful campus as Carmichael College. It is situated on 700 acres of land. So far, it is the biggest college in area wise in the country. There are a number of magnificent buildings in the college. These buildings are as old as the college itself.

To enhance the opportunity of higher education in Rangpur region with the initiative of local Zamindars (landlords) including Gopal Lal Roy Bahadur, Mohimaranjan Roy, Babu Monidra Chandra Roy and the local people, this college was established at Lalbag, 4 km to the south from zero point of the town.

Account BenefitThe then first Governor of Bengal Lord Baron Carmichael formally inaugurated the college in 1916. Therefore, the college was named after him.

Once upon a time it was the only institution for the students of the northern part of the country to receive higher education. From the very beginning till now it upholds its excellence in imparting quality education to its students.

The main building of Carmichael College was inaugurated on February 12, 1918. The wide range premise on more than 700 acres of land is very favorite to its current and former students.

The fourth-year student of Bangla department Maidul Islam said, "We have to leave our beloved campus within a few days. We hope the environment of our college will be always festive as like as today."

English department student Monira Sultana said, "I think the most beautiful sky can be seen standing at our college field. I like to move around the old and new buildings alone."

Principal of the College Binte Hussain Nasreen Banu said, "The College's reputation spreading at country and abroad in the continuation of the history. Many of the meritorious students become renowned through studying here. I hope, the education in the college will be continues with the peaceful environment."
