Botanical Garden of BAU

A botanical garden is a well-tended area displaying a wide range of plants labeled with their botanical names. It may contain specialist plant collections such as cacti and succulent plants, herb gardens, plants from particular parts of the world, and so on.

The botanical garden of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) was founded a year after the beginning of the university, in 1962, being located in the campus of the university.

The campus of the university lodges a rich botanical garden with collections of rare native plants and exotic plants. For its Collections they emphasized on Medicinal plants, Trees timber, Plants for bio-combustibles, Toxic and poisonous plants, Palms, Bamboos Cactus, Aquatic plants, Trepadoras plants, Ornamental plants ,Native fruit plants, this collection with a view to conserving the national resources of these plants is staying in the campus.

This garden is also used as a park for the people who wants to keep in touch their mind with the beauty of nature. Everyday a lot of people from various places come here to visit the garden. With having Brahmaputra River flowing besides it, the view of the garden looks more charming.

Not only is the objective of scenery viewing, the garden is also used for the research work and as a practical lab for the students of BAU.
