Eastern University (EU) was established in 2003 under the Private University Act 1992, as amended in 1998. It was approved by the Ministry of Education and University Grants Commission (UGC).

Department of English of Eastern University has achieved a huge success. Syllabus of English Department is based on the worlds needs, not only enhances personal skills of students but also proper knowledge in English has brought commendable success in various stages of their life.

Teaching opportunities in variety of public and job opportunities in private educational institutions, media, banks and multinational organization are now in their hands.

The Honors and Master Courses in English Department at the Eastern University open the opportunity to get teaching jobs with high-paying salary in schools, colleges and universities of Middle Eastern countries. Some of the students are successfully build their career in Middle Eastern Countries who passed from Eastern University's English Department.

A few years ago, a recruitment team has come to Bangladesh from Saudi Arabia to recruit 600 teachers for various schools, colleges and universities. Unfortunately they could not give the appointment to 20 candidates just because of the insufficient quality in English education. Despite so many opportunities our country's degree holder students are falling behind due to the lack of timely, practical and effective education.
