A career in leather technology is a lucrative option in Bangladesh. There are mainly three areas of work in this industry: designing, manufacturing and marketing. This industry is mainly centered in around Dhaka, Chittagong.

Courses available:
Bachelor of Leather Design; B.Tech in Leather Technology; Diploma in Leather Goods and Accessories Design; Diploma in Footwear Designing and Production; Certificate Course in Shoe Designing and Pattern Cutting; and Computer Aided Shoe Designing.

Qualification required:
To get admission into B.Sc/B.Tech in Leather designing/technology, a candidate should have at least HSC pass with physics, chemistry and mathematics. A candidate is required to have B.Tech degree in order to pursue M.Tech in Leather Technology.

Admission:
Students can take admission in the Institute of Leather Engineering and Technology under Dhaka University. In that case, students have to take part in the admission test of DU 'Ka-Unit'.
