ICT Project of BD ICT Ministry

Country's leading Information Technology (IT) companies have agreed to provide jobs to the selected high-quality fresh graduates in IT-related fields responding to a government proposal.

The qualified fresh graduates will be given jobs in software development, sales, marketing, human resource department, IT-enabled services and business process outsourcing after imparting them around a three-month training.

The concurrence came at a meeting between officials of Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance (LICT) Project of Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and 15 IT companies held at the Bangladesh Association of Software Information and Services (BASIS) office.

The meeting was informed that the government’s LICT project is going to build from 1,000 to 4,000 Fast Track Future Leaders (FTFLs) in the IT sector and a package of incentives would be provided to the IT companies against the recruitment of FTFLs.

Welcoming and also appreciating the government’s move, the owners and executives of IT companies have agreed to provide jobs in different categories, including software development, IT enabled services (ITES), Business process outsourcing (BPO), sales and marketing and human resource department.

Chaired by BASIS President Shameem Ahsan, LICT project director Rezaul Karim, Component Team Leader of IT and ITES of LICT project Fokhruz Zaman, Project Management Specialist Sarkar Abul Kalam Azad, Communication Specialist Ajit Kumar Sarkar, BASIS general secretary Russel T Ahmed and immediate past president Fahim Mashroor and representatives of the IT companies attended the meeting.

Describing the objectives of the project, Rezaul Karim said an incentive package would be provided to the IT and ITES companies to recruit the talented fresh graduates who, would actually be the future IT leaders and play an important role to carry forward the IT sector.

The companies will recruit them as future IT leaders according to their needs and on completion of three-month training programme they (companies) will regularise them, he said adding the LICT project will organise the training programme and provide more than 50 percent of salary to the trainees during their internship.

Fokhruz Zaman through a power-point presentation showed that initially, out of 900 FTFLs, 300 will be selected for software development, 300 for BPO and 300 for IT/ITES related management.

Shameem said BASIS would extend all-out cooperation in carrying forward the LICT project’s move to build 4,000 FTFLs.

The executives and owners of 15 companies, including Daffodil IT, Business Automation, Mars Solution, Desprin Ltd, Biz Solution attended the meeting committed to recruiting talented fresh graduates as per their need accepting the government’s incentive package.

The next meeting with another group of executives and owners of IT companies will be held soon to know the demand of graduates for recruitment.

The initiative is part of a government plan to create 34,000 direct and 120,000 indirect jobs in IT and ITES companies under LICT Project.
