Admission at Private Universities

American International University - Bangladesh

For Engineering
* A total GPA of 6.50 with a minimum GPA of 3.00 in Science background. Math must be included at HSC level.
* Minimum GPA 3.0 (in both O and A Levels separately) with no grade lower than ‘D’ among best 5 subjects in O' level and best 2 subjects in A' level. Math must be included at A' level. (Scale: A = 5, B = 4, C = 3, D = 2 & E= 1)
* High School Diploma/International Baccalaureate with minimum grade B in Math.
* GED result will not be accepted.
**For H.S.C. Appeared Candidates, Required S.S.C. CGPA is 3.50.

For Business Administration/Science/Architecture
* A total GPA of 6.00 with a minimum GPA of 2.75. Math must be included at HSC level For Science & Architecture.

Admission Requirements
Requirements for admission to bachelor and master programs at Stamford University vary with the discipline the applicants choose. Requirements for admission into different programs are given below:

For Bachelor Programs
For All Science and Engineering Related Bachelor Programs:
* Minimum GPA 2.50 in both S.S.C and H.S.C with science background or equivalent
* Minimum 5 subjects in O-Level and 2 subjects in A-Level with minimum grade of B in 4 subjects and minimum grade of C in 3 subjects from science group.

For All Arts, Law, Social Science and Business Related Bachelor Programs:
* Minimum GPA 2.50 in both S.S.C and H.S.C or equivalent
* Minimum 5 subjects in O-Level and 2 subjects in A-Level with minimum grade of B in 4 subjects and minimum grade of C in 3 subjects.

Every student must take the admission test unless he/she meets the requirements of direct admission criteria set forth by the university. Students, having outstanding results in their previous exams, may be allowed to get them admitted in the university directly but it is not a fundamental right. Students will be selected for admission considering their admission tests, previous academic results, moral character and some related factors. Admission test includes written exam as well as viva voce.

Undergraduate Admission Requirements

The minimum qualifications for admission into these programs are:
1. Academic Qualifications:
a) Minimum GPA 3.5 in SSC and HSC each
b) GCE O-level and A-level:
O-level in five subjects with Average Grade Point of 2.5 or above and A-level in two subjects with Average Grade Point of 2.0 and above; in the scale of A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2 & E=1. (one E is acceptable)
c) A US High School Diploma or equivalent.
Requirements may be changed anytime if there is a change in admission policy.
2. Acceptable scores in NSU's admission test.
3. Admission test will be waived for those who have got a minimum score of 1200 in SAT (Math+ Critical Reading) and 550 ( CBT 213/IBT 79) in TOEFL or 5.5 in IELTS.
4. HSC/A-level (appeared) candidates may sit for the admission test on the basis of an undertaking that they will not be admitted unless they pass theHSC/A level exams with minimum GPA requirement which will be mentioned in the Admission Offer Letter. A-level appeared student must submit their Statement of Entry.

Admission Eligibility

1. Minimum GPA of 2.50 in both SSC and HSC Examinations. Or, At least one first division either in SSC or in HSC. No third division is allowed. or
2. GCE 'O' Level in 5 subjects and 'A' Level in 2 subjects with at least 4 B's and 3 C's; or GPA 3.5 or
3. American High School Diploma, and
4. Acceptable EWU Admission Test Score
5. Total GPA of 5.00 in both SSC and HSC Examinations for the Freedom Fighter children.
6. Final selection for admission will be based on the total scores obtained out of 100 weightage as follows:(a) Admission Test Score(50%), (b) Results of SSC/'O' lavel (20%)and (c) Reults of HSC/'A' lavel/Equivalent exams(30%)

BRAC University

Minimum qualification for applying

* Minimum GPA of 3.0 in SSC and HSC separately, and a total GPA 7.0.
* Minimum GPA of 2.5 in O-Levels in five subjects and A-Levels in two subjects and total GPA 6.0 according to BRAC University scale (A=5, B=4, C=3 & D=2). Only one E is acceptable.

All eligible candidates are required to take the admission test.
Candidates who have completed higher secondary education (12 years of schooling) under a system different from SSC/HSC or 'O/A' Levels will have to get approval of the Equivalence Committee of the University.
Foreign Education Certificate. Candidates who have passed from abroad have to submit equivalence certificates from the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka.
Candidates for EEE, ECE, CSE, APE and Physics must have minimum B grade in Physics & Mathematics at HSC/Others or minimum C grade in Physics & Mathematics at 'A'-Levels.Candidates for BSc in Computer Science and BSc in Mathematics must have minimum B grade in Mathematics at HSC or minimum C grade in Mathematics at 'A'-Levels.
Candidates for BSc in Electronic & Communication Engineer and Electrical & Electronic Engineering having Physics and Mathematics but not Chemistry at HSC or 'A'-Levels must take a remedial course on Chemistry in addition to the courses required for the program.
Candidates for BSc in Biotechnology and Microbiology should have minimum C grade in Physics and Chemistry at HSC/ A-Levels and C grade in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at SSC/O-Levels. Candidates not having Mathematics at HSC or A-Levels must take a remedial course on Mathematics in addition to the courses required for the program.
Candidates with a break of study of more than two years, but not over five years, will have to apply to the Admission Committee stating the reason for break of study.
